The Art of Exchange

November 22nd, 2009
It was a beautiful evening of art, friends, food, and music. Thanks to all that attended Mondo's first holiday party/small works show and made it such an enjoyable evening! IMG_8607"The Art of Exchange"  was all about how we exchange through art.  We focused on smaller works, priced to make great gifts for the holiday season, as a literal exchange of those who wanted to give the beautiful and personal gift of art this year.  Also, there is an emotional exchange between the art itself and the viewer - for those just starting to see themselves as a collector of original art. We also focused on how art creates an exchange of ideas and connects one another in ways that transcend language and cultural barriers.  Mondo has started a passion project called the International HeART Exchange, a project that's goal is to connect children all over the world through the universal language of art by exchanging drawings among international peers (similar to a pen pals, but with a medium all can relate to and understand).  We do this with the help of partnering humanitarian groups, who conduct these art projects in countries they are currently doing amazing work in. To learn more about this project, please visit the BLOG.    IMG_8697 At the holiday party, by silent auction of some photographs and a drawing from our first expedition in Uganda, we were able to raise enough funds to get art supplies for drawings and even a mural for the next expedition. A very special thanks to all that contributed! We would like to thank our gracious hostess Kristy Blair, with Summit Sotheby's International Realty, who hosted us in her beautiful luxury home - it was a perfect setting for the evening.  We'd also like to thank Ellen Johnson with Flair for Food catering for the amazing appetizers, and Caroline King with the Bake Shop for the delicious desserts. Also - thanks to Mark, Orest, and Scottie of Rakatanga for the fantastic music that created such a great energy all evening. And to Joanna Hudson, our photographer,  for capturing this fun event. If you were unable to attend the event, and are interested in seeing the remaining works, please call or email us at info@mondofineart.com.
