As part of a month long residency, famed, and mysterious British graffiti artist Bansky will hit the streets of New York. The artist has already stenciled two works as recent as Wednesday morning with an accompanying note reading, “For the next month Banksy will be attempting to host an entire show on the streets of New York”. Beginning October 3rd, Gasworks in London will present The Lustful Turk, a solo exhibition by Italian artist Patrizio Di Massimo. Inspired by an erotic epistolary novel bearing the same name first published in 1828, The Lustful Turk is an ongoing project by the artist and features the use of lush colors, soft furnishings and delicate brushstrokes all to exhibit the novels scurrility and racial stereotypes. e-flu
Grand Rapids, Michigan is hosting it's annual ArtPrize, an enormous art competition which seeks to determine the difference between Art and "art". Questioning the fine line between art and self-expression as well as pointing a finger at the Art Worlds elitist culture, ArtPrize is a competition where anyone can participate and the winners are determined by a combination of public and jurors votes.
